Most people have not heard about ART®, however it is used widely throughout professional sports. Nearly all NFL, NHL, and NBA teams have an ART® provider for their players. Many Olympic medalists and MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) competitors have also used ART® to enhance their performance, as well as decrease pain from previous injuries and over-training. In fact, ART® is the Official Ironman Soft Tissue Massage partner. If it works for the people who put their bodies to the test everyday, it will most likely work for you.
Active Release Technique (ART) is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with Active Release Technique. These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles.

Dr. Jacob Luce is one of the few physcians in Utah that is a Certified Active Release Techniques Provider and is part of the prestigious Iroman Provider Network. Dr. Luce is also an official sponsor of the 2012 Ironman series.
Every Active Release Technique session is actually a combination of examination and treatment. The ART provider uses his or her hands to evaluate the texture, tightness and movement of muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves. Abnormal tissues are treated by combining precisely directed tension with very specific patient movements.
Contact our office at (801) 254-1811 to schedule an initial consultation with Dr. Luce to determine your individual situation. Medical Evaluation and Diagnostic testing procedures should be performed prior to beginning any treatment in order to determine the most effective process. After carefully studying your case history and exam findings, Dr. Luce will sit down and explain his recommended plan of action for you. After answering any questions you may have about the recommended plan, you may begin your care.
Kinesiology Taping (KT-Tape) can improve joint function, decrease muscle spasm, relieve pain, and reduce swelling.
KT Tape is a revolutionary sports medicine solution for treating and preventing common sports injuries such as ITBS, shin splints, plantar fasciitis, knee pain and more.
It’s designed for Professional athletes, Olympians, and active people world-wide who take health & fitness seriously and who refuse to stop training, playing, or living life active and free.
KT Tape works differently for different injuries. KT Tape can lift and support the knee cap, holding it in place for Runner’s Knee. KT Tape can support sagging muscles along the arch of the foot, relieving the connective tissues for Plantar’s Fasciitis. And KT Tape can lift the stress off of shin splints to allow pain release and give the body a better opportunity to recover.
*Note* If you are receiving Active Release care or K-T Taping services please wear loose fitting clothes. Shorts, Sweat/Track pants, and Yoga pants are recommended.
